Jazz at the Aquarium: Takamatsu

Captured on film

I stumbled upon an unexpected collaboration: local jazz musicians performing inside the Shikoku Aquarium. It wasn’t just a concert; it was an experiment in how music interacts with marine life.

Two scenes stayed with me. Inside, professional musicians played against a massive glass wall. As the deep blue light from the tanks washed over the performers, the music felt like it was drifting underwater—dreamy and surreal.

Outside, a student band took the stage. Their melodies were slightly raw, but paired with the energetic dolphin show, it felt like pure, unpolished youth. This project is a record of that strange, beautiful harmony between the rhythm of jazz and the pulse of the sea.
